Jack’s Surfboards will open two more stores in San Clemente and Irvine.
The popular surf chain plans to open its fifth O.C. shop in the second half of this year at the Oak Creek Village Center in Irvine on Alton Parkway. It signed a 10-year lease with the Irvine Company for the 9,300-square-foot space.
It also plans to open its sixth shop in San Clemente on Avenida Del Mar in the first half of next year. The retailer bought the 10,120-square-foot store for $6.2 million, according to NAI Capital, which represented Jack’s in the purchase.
Jack’s also has stores in Huntington Beach, Dana Point, Newport Beach and Corona del Mar.
Jack’s, which has been in business since the 1950’s, has been visited by surfers from Latin America, Europe and Japan. Buyers from retailers on the East Coast and in Hawaii also fly to its stores to check out the latest trends, surf manufacturers say.
In the past, a slew of surf and skateboard brands like Etnies from Lake Forest jockey for Jack’s window space during the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach.
DC Shoes, the skateboard shoe and clothing brand owned by Quiksilver of Huntington Beach, will also soon open a store at the Irvine Spectrum Center.
