Bankrupt Linens ‘n Things started the liquidation sales last month for two O.C. stores.
The two local locations are at Mission Viejo Freeway Center and Metro Pointe at South Coast in Costa Mesa. They are among an additional 51 underperforming stores the home furnishings retailer received bankruptcy court permission to close, said spokesman Rich Tauberman.
That’s on top of the first round of 120 store closures – including Fullerton at Amerige Heights Town Center, Tustin at The Market Place and Rancho Santa Margarita – the retailer began liquidating in late May.
The company expects the liquidation sales for the 51 stores to last roughly two to three months. However, the length of time can vary for each store.
The retailer filed for bankruptcy protection in May. At the end of last year, the chain operated 589 stores in 47 states and seven provinces in the U.S. and Canada.

The sale currently is a joke… 10%-20% off everything.. I can get a better deal on most of their stuff with the coupon they send to my house. At least wait awhile until it goes to 20%-30%!

I agree that the sale is a joke! I walked in to LnT last week to check it out, when I realized everything was basically 10% off I walked out and went to BB and Beyond to use some 20% off coupons!

Don’t worry, the last week or two will be 80%+. It will just take them 3 months to get there.

Remember it’s first come, first served with these closings. If you can wait until it’s 50% off, that’s when the really good deals start. As with any other store closing, they’re hoping to recover a lot of their losses with the “Liquidation Sale!” hysteria because 10% off is still very profitable. Anyone remember when Good Guys closed? Stuff started selling really fast when it hit 50% off.

After being a faithful Linen’s and Things shopper for many years, I wish I hadn’t bothered. Twice since the bankcruptcy announcement I went in there looking for a bargain, and twice, items that were clearly marked REDUCED in red letters suddenly became non-sale items when I reached the check-out. No wonder they’re going out of business. Their “SALE” prices are a lie and a joke. For the going out of business sale they’ve INCREASED the prices by 50%. I won’t set foot in that store again even if they were giving stuff away. I hate to be ripped off.

Boo hoo how about those people who are losing their jobs? And all you care about is what % you get your stuff at? I hope you never lose your jobs and have to worry about how you are going to take care of your family. Idiots…

Just some food for thought. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards, and I’ve been following the LNT bankruptcy. I’ve commented a few times on stores filling for BK. One thing to watch out for are the gift cards. When a company files for BK, they generally void their gift cards. I know LNT is still accepting them. Recently, it seems as if they are shutting down even more. here’s the article:
