Burlington Coat Factory plans to open a Santa Ana store on Oct. 3.
The nearly 60,000-square-foot store will offer coats as well as dresses; maternity clothing; suits, sportswear and shoes for men and women; and accessories.
For children, Burlington Coat Factory offers strollers, car seats, furniture, clothing and toys. It also has a home decor section that sells bedding, housewares and bath accessories.
The company said it offers prices up to 60 percent below other department stores.
The new Santa Ana store is at 2840 South Bristol St. In Orange County, the chain also has stores in Huntington Beach at Bella Terra, Mission Viejo and Fullerton, according to its Web site.
During the fiscal first quarter ended Aug. 30, the company opened 20 stores. During the remainder of the current fiscal year, the retailer expects to open an additional 20 stores.
As of Aug. 30, the retail company operated 417 stores in 44 states, principally under the name Burlington Coat Factory.
For the fiscal first quarter, sales at stores open at least a year rose 0.2 percent.
The roots of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation go back to 1924 with wholesale sales of ladies coats and suits. In 1972, it opened its first outlet store in Burlington, New Jersey. Coats were the primary offering at the original store, but over time the concept evolved to include various merchandise.
The department store chain was purchased by Bain Capital in 2006.

Burlington sucks.
I have found that Burlington has some great shoes . The store is kinda hit and miss when I have gone there.
“discount’ does not really describe this store
Only shop at Burlington for their women’s shoes.
