Mervyn’s said Thursday that it received bankruptcy court approval to close its remaining 149 stores and will begin the going-out-of-business sales on Nov. 1.

The company previously announced the closure of 26 stores, including four in O.C. The liquidation sales for these stores began late August and are still going on. To get a list of these four local stores, CLICK HERE.

That’s too bad about Mervyn’s closing. I’ve been going to the Mervyn’s in Oceanside for about 20 years. There used to be so much business that items were constantly sold out. One thing though, they never sold online?
Is this what happens when you cater to the latino community?
last time I was in a Mervyn’s I couldn’t believe the mess.
Yeah Dave, bad a my local store as well. Use to be a nice medium discount store. Then started to sell a lot of garbage - not all, but enough to make me to take my shopping elseware.
I guess Dave41 has never been to a Ross stores. They seem to be doing okay given the economic failures of the last eight years. If you are going to brand the stores that Latinos patronize you might as well include Kohls, Target, Kmart and Walmart.
I’m very curius to find out wher these guys now shop. By their lack of education, I’m betting a million it’s some Thrift store in central Santa Ana.
i shop at the mervyn in huntington beach. it is nice and clean. so i guess it depends on the location of the stores.
