Room Service, a furniture store with a mid-century modern slant, recently opened an exclusive Orange County shop at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

The 4,086-square-foot store carries sofas, chairs, sectionals, dining tables, beds, headboards, credenzas, dressers, kids furniture, lighting, art and outdoor living pieces.

The company also has its own production facility that houses an upholstery operation, woodshop and custom metal fabrication all under one roof so customers have the ability to customize all styles.  There are also in-house design consultants.

Room Service occupies the formerly Shabby Chic space. To read more about Shabby Chic and why it closed the store, CLICK HERE.

Does Room Service have a website? What are their prices like?

Great news! That Shabby Chic look was so dated and tired and sloppy looking. It was made for boring 1990’s housewives who thought gauzy fabric and antiqued white paint might infuse personality into their othwerise predictable and boring lives.

I love the return to the sleeker, mid-century mod look, yet with all these 21st century details and eye candy. All the hottest Boutique Hotels in the big cities have this look now, and it’s always a hoot to check in to those places. I will have to make a trip to Fashion Island to see this store for myself, and maybe pick up a little item or two.

That’ll look so good in my 1,400 sq. ft. ranch-style home.
