Marshalls will occupy the former Circuit City building at The Shops at Rossmoor in Seal Beach.
The discount store will span about 30,500 square feet, according to the shopping center. Marshalls will be near HomeGoods. Both retail chains are owned by TJX Companies.
Marshalls offers brand name women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and shoes and home decorating accents. The discounter takes advantage of pricing opportunities when department stores overbuy or designers overproduce. This allows Marshalls to sell the same name brands as the department stores at a fraction of the cost.
The Shops at Rossmoor said it expects Marshalls to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
Circuit City closed its remaining 11 O.C. stores in March after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January.
Other discounters also recently announced store openings in Orange County.

For the 23 (so far) who voted “No” - vacancy is death for a shopping center. It’s possible that you would prefer a higher-end retailer in the space. But you already have a HomeGoods in the same center, so it is fairly established that it isn’t a Saks/Nordstrom location. Any tenant with good financial backing is a good tenant.
Marshalls is better suited to a lower income neighborhood like Buena Park, not upscale Seal Beach.
I love the Marshals in Irvine and it is always packed. I would not call Irvine a lower income neighborhood.
Wow, Marshalls. I didn’t know they even existed anymore!
I would have preferred a Barnes -N- Nobles or Borders. Would have fit nicely.
